So for those of you who aren't from NEXT or on my Facebook friends list, I am panicking right now. Why? I was in a car accident yesterday morning. The idiot was sleeping on the wheel (whether he was drunk, high, stoned, or a combination of any of the above is beyond me) and rear-ended oiur vehichle. Twice. I freaked out and went into shock. Nearly passed out, got whiplash, and the seatbelt didn't lock so my back was strained a bit. While its taking a major toll on our vehicle, the first thing I thought about while I called 911 was oh my gosh... how am I going to quiz like this? I had my book with me, and skipped Ballet to study in the Emergency Room. Between the accident and now, I've taken 3300 mg of medication for my back and neck soreness cream and not wanted to do anything... alas, I continued to teach my Ballet class this morning, and now my neck and back are killing me again. Time to raise that total to 3800, huh? Thats what I was told to do though, once every 5-6 hours, or whenever the pain starts to come back again. I got nothing for the nausea and dizziness, but I'm assuming 'brain food' will be out of the question this weekend, as it has been since yesterday.

This relates to quizzing how, you ask? Well, how in the WORLD can anyone expect me to jump like this? WHY did this happen the day before a quiz meet? So, I'm looking around for tips on how to quiz with an injury to add to the nerves page. I mean, I've quizzed with a disadvantage before (Nakamun I had a sprained ankle and a high fever, remember? Before that I'd quizzed with headaches, pulled groins, half asleep... nothing like THIS) but it was minor and I could push through it.

Sorry for the rantiness thus far, lets get to the interesting stuff that people want to read.

QUIZ MEET TODAY!!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!
That is an understatement to how the little person in my head is freaking out. I'm not totally sure if that little person is okay... maybe I need to take her to a shrink one of these days, but yes, FREAKING OUT is my instinct! My text is all recited, lots of copywork is done, and I'm psyched! 2.5 hours away isn't all that much you know!

Anyways, tips still accepted.

Question: What do you do to get ready for a quiz meet? If I asked this before, I'm asking it again just for the sake of it! W00T!

No, not the entire thing.

Well, yeah, kinda. But you know. I meant THIS particular post. I'm just guessing since the quiz meet is on Friday, which is in... holy crap... 2 SLEEPS?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (enter freak-out here)

Anyways, I've got this week off of school to do nothing but study, study, study, sleeps, and... study. So I'm taking a short break right now.

Its Wednesday. Wow. Last practice is tomorrow. I'm jumping way too fast and talking way too slow. I don't know my material enough. I NEED to study...
pre-meet syndrome. Did I write about that already?

Anyways, I'll stop while you're not sick of reading yet... or are you? LOL! Just getting pumped up!

And by 'it' I mean my emotional attatchment to Quizzing. Studying etc... starting to consume me again. The spark lit the forest on fire... right?

Anyways, I'm almost done the flashcards for the first meet.

OMG the first meet! Its one practice away after today... I know... what the heck? Where'd the time go? I'm kinda confused... I wish I'd been studying more earlier in the year....

Anyways, just thought I'd post those two things. This is short, I need to keep my flashcards, copywork and sutff up to date.

Okay.. ummm... I'm not sure I know how to put this... but... I'm already starting to feel the pressure for the first (and only this time around) Regional meet of the year. Like, the heat is coming, people, and Its about right to say that I'm freaking out a bit. Reality check: I need to be studying a LOT more! I've been doing better in practices but I need to be WAY more confident in what I think I know and that's only gonna happen if I start studying more. So I'll try to make this short.

Studying, quiz meets, stress? How are you feeling about all this? PLEASE COMMENT lol! April commented on my last blog :o) Thanks April!

Hmmmm... quiz meets... I'm totally re-doing my frustration plan. New year, had the whole Summer without it and now if I've changed at all it is useless. New frustration plan: ...Study? I don't know. I'll figure it out. Who wants me to post it when I get it figured out? (cricket-cricket) FINE! Gosh...

Anyways, like I said, this is short. Need to study. Quiz meet coming up. Stressed. Somebody comment. Please. You don't even have to use your real name. LOL!

Quizzers... UNITE!

I know I have a lame blog title today.

Now that THAT is over with... I will tell you the reason I interrupted your studying. The quiz meet ended yesterday... I was continually saying: I HAVE TO BLOG ABOUT THIS!!!

Okay, so we left after stopping at a grocery store to get some mangos (brain food) and drove to Red Deer. Studied for a bit, but ended up doing way random stuff... like lip-synching at cars (?). The first thing we did was check in to the hotel, lie around a bit, and me and Patricia threw questions at each other. Then we went to the mall... which was a good thing because I didn't pack a toothbrush, pyjamas, or my stress balls (I had 2). So we went to the mall and I desparately searched for a fidget toy and a cheap toothbrush... and finally as we were looking through Claire's... I FOUND IT! And by 'it' I mean, a totally adorable new stress ball that was pink with green hair! I also got a toothbrush... but who cares about that?

Then we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the cinnamon buns my mom bought us (thank you mom!) and... again... went through a bunch of questions.  Finally, it was time. Time to get in the van and freak out speed-studying the entire way to the church. Then we had our first quiz... which was an interesting one... and then our second quiz... which was also... interesting. The second 'I must blog' moment:

Think about this for a second. Your team has erred their way to 0. You have 2 wrong, so 1 more error and you're out. You are terrified out of your bejeebes that you'd be the reason the team would lose and all that stuff that's going through your head when you haven't slept enough and you're almost erred out. Thats what happened. I jumped early on 16th (I think?) question and 10 seconds in found the verse, got it right. Got the question. Started laughing??? LOL! I mean, 2 questions later I erred out... but the team pulled our 0 (before that question) up to 100 before the end of the quiz!!

How did we do the rest of the meet? Well, we all got our usual quiz meet sleep or more (some got 8 hours, some 4... my usual just happens to be 1.5 so thats what I got), our team pulled it together just in time to win WXYZ (thank goodness), and went on to get 12th place in the championships. I'm not sure how the rest of the NEXTer's did, but I came in 11th (I pulled my act together after that err-out and quizzed out 3 times in the afternoon), Jon and I qualified for Great West, and Patricia is a fill-in if anyone can't go... I am 100% going, and I haven't heard if Jon and Patricia have made final decisions yet, or  if anyone couldn't make it, but I know they were both ecstatic about getting that far!

Chapters 8-13 for Great West... anyone reading my blog going? Anyone from outside of WCD reading my blog going?

I'm sorry this was so long... I just had so much to write about!!! I am so excited about everything!!

WOAH!

Okay, I am SUPER excited and in a VERY good mood right now. Why? I'll tell you why. Thats what I make these blogs FOR!

Not only is the quiz meet TOMORROW (That reminds me... I REALLY need to get packing... out of town meet), NOT ONLY did I finish catching up on the flashcards (its true) but this website acquired 67 VIEWS yesterday!!!! WHAT? Thanks so much for reading the stff on my site! My goodness... this is the most this site has ever gotten by 22 views!!!! Thanks for the numbers!!!

Well, fellow quizzers, I must get back to studying... or maybe I should pack... but whatever I have to do... I must leave. Thanks again, and keep quizzing and being awesome (cause you know you are!)

Happy studying!

Maegan

Don't worry... nothing happened.  Except my sudden realisation that the quiz meet is in 2 short days... JUST TWO! Thus the title. So I'm studying like a maniac. :o)

Anybody have anything that they do last minute... or any superstitions for quiz meets? I want to make a page on here with cool (or maybe kind of wierd) things people do before, during or after quiz meets. Me? I take every chance I get to get into my flashcards. And when I'm outside of the house, I'm doing copywork. Seriously... I'm going to Chuck E Cheese's today... and I'm bringing my iPod to listen to the text at the arcade. I go into OBSESSIVE mode completely...

Please comment with your wierd rituals... I'd love to hear some of them and start the page!

HAHAHAHA! I bet everybody thought I wasn't posting because I wasn't stressed out about the quiz meet in a week and a half! AAHAHAHAHA! Teehee... no.

Its actually because I'm so obsessive that I HAVENT posted anything. I've been looking at High Schools, dancing, other stuff you really don't want to hear about... (Troll: get on with the quizzing stuff! Me: I know! Sheesh) and with studying AND all that, I haven't had any time on the website.

But along with that I've been testing out new studying techniques. I haven't had a whole lot of time, but I've got some ideas I've been trying so you can expect some new stuff on the site soon.  Today, starting at noon, I will be seeing if its actually useful to study for hours on end. How might I do that? Finish up my homeschool work and get studying, thats how. Wow. That was cheesy. I'm calling this operation... uh... never mind... I don't know what to call it. :o(

And I should probably inform you that I am freaking out. I haven't changed at ALL since the last meet! Mwahaha!

And just another reminder that you can send in tips for any part of the website!

One more thing... the reason the 'never heard of quizzing' page isn't up is becase it is going to take me forever. And I've decided to draw that jumping diagram. Ha.

Thanks for reading this... Quizzing 4 EVER!

Maegan

(read to the last paragraph) Wow... was that ever an amazing meet! And not only stats-wise... It was just overall fun and exciting! Our teams... us NEXTicans... we spent a lot of time together, talked about completely unrelated topics, I actually wasn't too uptight (not that I would notice usually) and everybody was WAY positive.  We had ups and downs... quizzes ranging from 270 points to 60... and lot of errors, challenges, and quiz-outs... but that just makes quizzing even more exciting!

For this meet our rivals were Southgate 1 and 2... had two quizzes with both of them and a third quiz with team 2... and by the third quiz (the semi-semi finals) we had calmed down and started doing really well... so that quiz was a nail-biter for all 3 teams.  One of the fun things is after our first quiz with both Southgate teams, team 2's coach talked to me and Jon and told us that we'd be more competitive if we stopped psyching ourselves out... and we were thinking of that every quiz after that... thus we did well... so if anybody has contact with him... tell him thanks again from NEXT 1!!!

Speaking of thanks... thanks to all the WCD'ers out there who gave us a great meet!  There is no way we would've had so much fun without some stiff competition!

As for personal scores... we at NEXT are creeping our way up the stats... I came in 10th and Jon came in 15th... and I bet the rest of us did well, too... and even if we didn't... we had fun!

One more thing... I wish somebody had videotaped this... there was one question in a certain quiz that I jumped on... What importance? and I thought it was what important s... so once I realised that I didn't even bother standing up... I just sat there hanging my head... until I finally got it... It wasn't even a quick 'oh!'... it was a 'what-is-Maegan-thinking' moment... I leaped (leapt?) Out of my seat... quickly DANCED over to the microphone, threw my hands up and practically yelled 'FIRST IMPORTANCE!!!!'... That quizmaster will NEVER forget me!

Yes, friends, WCD's second regional meet just happens to be TOMORROW! Get ready... NEXT has been practicing!!

I've been sick since yesterday with a cold... so I'll just quickly blog about hte last practice we had and the new page I'm starting.

Let's start with the new page. I'm getting a LOT of Twitter followers from the Highland dance community etc. asking what quizzing is... and I cannot explain quizzing in 180 characters or less... so I'm starting that page so I can send a link to those people when I'm asked about quizzing... and you too! LOL That was sooo cheesy!

And now the practice... it went pretty well for the most part... Although the extra last-minute practice tomorrow afternoon is going to be VERY helpful! Smilez!

Anyways... I guess I'll see some of you at the meet... good luck to everybody in WCD!
